Boyfriend came to restaurant before open hours and started hassling employee. Should we call police right away? As far as we are concerned he was trespassing. He also was yelling at other employees who were trying to intervene. Thanks!

You have no option other than calling the police.

The employee needs to get a restraining order in place.

Call the police. He's an intruder. Explain to the employee that if this employment is to continue that he/she must put an end to this -- suggest a restraining order. If this personal relationship problem continues to interferre with work performance or is jeopardizing safety of other employees, then said employee may have to find employment elsewhere.

Call the police on him every time he shows up. Do not attempt to intervene as someone could get hurt. Just don't let him in the restaurant. The manager can file a restraining order where he can not come back to the restaurant.

Your only option is to call the police. The scary thing is that it might only make him madder and he might come back and do who knows what the next time.

Maybe you shoudl ask the employee to voluntarily find other employment for the safety of everyone else.
