Metformin is usually prescribed for months and months if you have PCOS. It is not something you do for a month or two..it's a continuous thing. Call your doctor if you ran out of pills. Did they want you to go back and see them? Do you have a refill that you need to get? Do they want you to up your dose? Metformin is a drug that you gradually up your dose to your full dose. So..for a week you do 500mg, then a week at 1000, then you add 500mg a week until you are at your full dose (usually between 1500-2550mg per day). Call your doctor. Good luck.

Keep going! I have been on it for about 9 months now, it takes a few months before it will start regulating things. The 1st month I missed my period, the 2nd and 3rd I got it regular (though it was light), the 4th I missed again, 5th, 6th, 7th I got, and now the 8th I've missed and it's about time for the 9th. It's definitely an improvement over only 2 periods a year!

go by you GP's recommendations, if GP prescribes a tablet you should finish the course in full. if in doubt, book a telephone consultation with your GP.
