I don't have cable, just a tv and DVD player so I like to get tv shows on DVD to watch. I LOVE the OC, Alias, and Veronica Mars. I've also liked Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Party of Five, Sex and the City, Dawson's Creek, Desperate Housewives, and Gilmore Girls. I usually like hour shows rather than 1/2 hour shows. Something like the OC or Veronica Mars would be great...any suggestions?

If you haven't seen Beverly Hill, 90210, the first season recently came out on dvd. It was the beginning of the teen dramas like Dawson's Creek and The O.C, and the originals are always the best. I don't know if you're looking for shows that are currently on tv or older ones, but here are a few more that are no longer on the air - Melrose Place, Felicity and Everwood (ended much to soon). As for some shows that are currently on - One Tree Hill, Supernatural (surprisingly good), House and ER. My current faves are Gilmore Girls, Law and Order:SVU, Heroes, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Friday Night Lights, Grey's Anatomy and ER.

They may be half hour episodes but you should try out "Friends" Season 1-10 on DVD, (even hiring it out would be a good way to watch the episodes) It is GREAT and the episodes are HILARIOUS!, the DVDs arent too expensive and the bonus features are also good! But from the look of your post, you probably like dramas better than comedys, so I guess I would reccomend picking up these specific seasons:
The O.C. Season 1 and 2
Desperate Housewives Season 1 and 2
Lost Season 1
Grey's Anatomy Season 1 and 2
Prison Break Season 1
Gimore Girls Seasons 1-6
Go for those and you will be entertained for hours on end!

Some suggestions:
Arrested Development
The Office (UK or US)
Six Feet Under
Smallville
Carnivale
Rome
24
Nip/Tuck
West Wing
You've got the right idea, TV shows flow much better on DVD than with commercials in between.

I just finished watching the entire series of Alias (Seasons 1-5). I'm a big fan and it's amazing. Jennifer Garner is great in it, and its a must watch for any fan of Lost, 24, action, or spy stuff!

I like desperate housewives, but it's better if you know the story..but it's not to hard to start up again! look for reruns on tv.
.same thing with lost..its really addicting..i mean, each episode is soo intense, but it's only good if you know the story line. so i say rent season one, two or both of lost..watch the whole thing...look for reruns of it (it doesn't come back until february!!) on tv....and you'll be good for it's return. I guarantee you will not be disappointed and you'll find yourself looking forward to the episode every week.

LOST! If you buy the first season I garentee you will love it. The only people that don't like it are the people that don't get it because they haven't seen the first season. Get the first season of Lost. You won't regret it I promise. I've told a lot of people to do the same thing and EVERY one of them that did, absolutly LOVED it! I promise you will love it. It's on ABC so you don't need cable.
