I'm concerned about how the laundry detergent I use effects the environment. How can I tell if a laundry detergent is harmful? Is it whether or not it is biodegradable? Which ones are the best?

You can bet that all or some available in the grocery store are harmful to you and the environment. Some contain formaldehyde. See Quixtar.com, product search, instead. I am a real believer in these products.

borax its a little costly but it is an element derived from the earth not a combination of chemicals and is fully biodegradable hope this helps

i have been using all small and mighty and it has 32 loads in each bottle, Its better for the enviroment it has a way smaller bottle, and you use have the luqiud because its concerated.
you have can us have a cap. and it suds up really good, i love it
