Well, that is quite interesting. How do you make your beloved dog the happiest before he passes, after all this animal has integrated him/her self into the family, and probably the only thing who has truly always been there for you. I say Spoil that canine rotten, buy him all those treats that taste great(even thought Vets don't like them). He's your dog let him do what ever it is you always tell him not to.

If you can, consider having the animal put to sleep by the Vet. I know how difficult that is, but it might ultimately be easier for both the dog and for you. Otherwise, I do know that dogs like to be left alone to die. Outdoor dogs often go away from the house to die, and inside dogs will often find a sort of hiding place where they don't want to be disturbed. That's their nature. I'm very sorry because it hurts to lose one's animals.

Hi,
I just lost my dog last monday. I know how you feel but the kindest thing you can do for your dog now, is to have him put to sleep. In time you'll realise that you've done the right thing.
Truly, you don't know how long he has left, and if he has cancer it could take weeks for him to pass away.
I know its hard to think about and its one of the hardest and most painful things you'll ever have to do. But its his time, help him by making the pain go away and putting him to rest.
When I took mine last week, I tried not to think about it too much other than it was the humane thing to do. I was on auto-pilot.

If he has medications to take, obviously give them to him. I would think otherwise, show him a lot of love, put him where he is very familiar with his surroundings, like a favorite bed and with his favorite toys nearby. Keep it quiet and don't demand much if anything of him. Mainly, show him lots of affection and love and let him do what he wants, as he will probably get into a position naturally that is the most comfortable for him.

I hate to say this but take him to the vet, and have him put to sleep. Tell him if that you love him and all that stuff. I know that it is hard, but it is the best thing for him.
Or you can just spend the day with him, telling him that you love him, and all that stuff.

Put him in a quiet dark room away from kids ,other pets, tv & ect.
Make sure his bed is soft. Keep his water & food close to his bed even if you have to feed him & give him drink of water. Give him lots of love by petting him, talking to him, brushing his hair gently, putting your head gently next to his & say i love you . And if he is gasping for air , turn on a small fan & let it blow on him. And if he is cold put a blanket over him. sing something soft & sweet. When he is gone you will not regret what you have done for him. I lost one back in April.

Hold him on your lap for a long time and let him know that you will miss him and will be looking forward to meeting him again in Heaven. Don't let him out of your sight, and make many little blanket beds around for him to lay and watch you. Be strong!
