They are using this war on TERROR to change the laws in the U.S. so the can control the citizens at home.
They brought in the Patriot Act,Military Commissions Act,Homeland Security and a bunch of other crap which strips people of their rights and shreds the Constitution, all just to keep its citizens safe. How come there hasn't been an attack since 9/11,not a shooting,or a bombing of any kind, because this terrorism thing is to scare the people into compliance.
All i have to say is that i'm glad i'm Canadian.

Any war is just as long as the country instigating it, can afford it. We have to ask ourselves hard questions and abide by the answers which I don't believe we are doing in Iraq. Is the war on terrorism making headway? How can we tell? Are the people we have trained to fight for us filling their courts with suspected terrorists or are they being the judges themselves? If the answer is the last, then we are failing. Both in our war on terrorism and in bringing freedom to any people. Can we change our methods, since what we have isn't working? We can tell because after just a few years we still live in a baracaded compound and no large group of people has joined us.

In a way, yes, because even without 9/11 and Al Qaida, there are groups in the world who have recognized that war in the conventional sense is outmoded due to the enormous firepower the US can unleash in a concentrated attack. It is much easier, cheaper and less costly to your cause to conduct covert actions which can maximize media attention. The longer you're around, the more impotent your enemy appears, and if your cause is to pick away at a global power's imperialist agenda there are certainly plenty of people who will stand with you. As for the "war on terror," that's an ad slogan. The real war is something the public never sees.

A response to terrorism is perfectly justified. A war on a tactic (terrorism) is absurd.

I don't think you can take an attack the magnitude of Sep 11 and do nothing, or continue with the then, current course.
The lines of battle were irreparably reversed following Sep 11. No longer can free nations sit down, wait for an attack and respond thereafter.
Now, they have to seek out and destroy those who harbour ill designs on freedom.
You must remember that the US and Bush did not start this war. So you can't blame them for responding in a manner which they feel is necessary, to prevent and detect such incidents.
You can't commit a crime and expect the judge to impose the punishment that you want.

I don't think it's justified. I mean we should of gone another route instead of just barging in there with no actual war plan. We didn't think this through. As the army itself has said on the television, you can't fight an enemy you cannot see. And you can't tell a terrorist from your neighbor.
It's like back in communist times, you could point at someone and say "TERRORIST!" And you probably wouldn't be wrong or right, who can tell? Maybe they do have awful thoughts on what to do. In my opinion we over-reacted and did stupid stuff, stupid people learn the hard way :)

Yes because as 770 insinuated the war on Terror is actually a war against Islamic Jihad.

The Story shows the footage used by news broadcasts, and compares it with the devastatingly powerful uncensored footage of the aftermath of the carnage that is becoming a part of the fabric of life in Iraq.

War never solves anything. Bush dragged our country Australia into a war the majority of Australians did not wantContinual bombing of other countries is not working. Terrorism is happening while we speak. Please vote Bush out if you donot agree with war.
