some people ask what is obviously a tongue in cheek question and yet some people jump on them and spoil it for the others of us who find it rather amusing,
i'm not talking about the people who are racist, sexist or down right rude but those of us who want a bit of light releif in our dreary worlds!!

it would be nice if we could have some smileys here, it would show when we are joking, as sometimes jokes don't translate well across the 'net.

I know exactly what you mean. I used to post tongue-in-cheek questions but got so many carping idiots and even violation notices that I gave up. So, the answer is yes, there are a whole load of soulless, humourless, benighted individuals on this site that the ones with a bit of real humour are being driven out. Democracy means rule by the insipidly inane.

I agree - I think some questions are witty & they deserve a witty reply. I admire those answers & think 'why didn't I think of that?' However, there are some subjests that shouldn't be treated lightly. People should be able to distinguish between a tongue in cheek question & a question being asked to cause offense or to stir things up. The latter should be ignored.

Hi Lola - Don't let them get you down kiddo! Your sense of humour will mean you will live longer 'cos you are happier. Let those miserable b******s die young with their ulcers. The circle of friends I have just cannot take things seriously, and I am far happier amongst them than with anyone else. Unfortunately, my laid back approach to life means I quietly get p****d off with all forms of officialdom and jobsworths, but do I give a toss? NOOoooooooooo. Forget about yesterday, you can't change it. Live for today, let tomorrow happen when it comes! And above all, laugh, smile and make others happy with your humour. Luv yer all

Personally, I have one hell of a sense of humour, and yes, there really are some great "Hooks" that simply BEG for a witty response, and some of the responses are HYSTERICALLY funny, I love it!

But there are some real idiots on here to, you have to admit.
And they beg for a retort, and even that I find quite therapeutic, even if I do get the occasional slapped wrist from them on high!

Lola, you can come to my party!! I was about to get into the bath, and asked for volunteers for a back scrub, and one reply indicated I was a slag. I did get some tempting offers, and before I could pick one, my question got deleted. Now that is spoiling other peoples fun!

Humour goes with culture. Different groups and different nationalities laugh at different things. Most groups like to have a laugh at the expense of another group - but hate it when someone has a pop at them.
