(5x + 7) + (x - 2)

2. The length of a rectangular wall is x units and its height is (x - 3) units. Find an expression for the perimeter of the wall.

3. A rectangular garden has a length (t + 5) feet and width 2t feet. Find an expression for the perimeter of the garden.

4. Find the difference:
(t - 5) - (3t - 1)

Please do not bash me, tell me I need to do my own homework etc. Out of a 50 question exam, this is what I am left with. They may be simple to you, but not to me at the moment. I have just suffered a death in the family, I come here for answers and not to be told this or that etc.

Thanks in Advance to anyone who helps. :)

1)) (5x + 7) + (x - 2) = 5x + 7 + x - 2 = 5x + x + 7 - 2 = 6x + 5

2)) 2 X length + 2 X height = perimeter

(2 X x) + (2 X (x - 3)) = per = 2x + (2x - 6) = cir = 2x + 2x - 6

perimeter = 4x - 6, or 2 ( 2x - 3)

3)) same as # 2;

2 X (t + 5) + 2 X 2t = 2t + 10 + 4t = 2t + 4t + 10 = 6t + 10 = per

4)) (t - 5) - (3t - 1) = t - 5 - 3t + 1 = t - 3t - 5 + 1 = -2t -4

(5x + 7) + x - 2) = 0

5x + 7 + x - 2 = 0

6x + 5 = 0

6x + 5 - 5 = 0 - 5

6x = - 5

6x/6 = - 5/6

x = - 5/6

2).

Perimeter Formula

P = 2L + 2W

P = 2(x) + 2(x - 3)

P = 2x + 2x - 6

P = 4x - 6

6 = 4x - 6 + 6

6 = 4x

6/4 = 4x/4

6/4 = x

1 2/4 = x

1 1/2 = x

1.5 = x

The answer is x = 1.5

The perimeter is 1.5 units

3).

The perimeter formula

P = 2L + 2W

P = 2(t + 5) + 2(2t)

P = 2t + 10 + 4t

P = 6t + 10

- 10 = 6t

- 10/6 = 6t/6

- 10/6 = t

- 1 4/6 = t

- 1 2/3 = t

The answer is t = 1 2/3

The perimeter is 1 2/3 units

4).

Find the differenc

(t - 5) - (3t - 1) = 0

t - 5 - 3t + 1 = 0

-2t - 4 = 0

- 2t - 4 + 4 = 4

- 2t = 4

- 2t/- 2 = 4/ - 2

t = -2

The answer is t = - 2

1. You don't need parentheses (sp) for additon problems. It would just be 5x+x and 7-2. Which would be 6x+5.

2. Since you have 4 sides of it. You have 2(x-3) + 2x. Which would be 2x-6+2x. Which would be 4x-6.

3. Same as above idea. 2(t+5) + 2t. Equal to 2t+10+2t. Equal to 4t+10.

4. Like addition you can ditch the parentheses (sp). You then would have t-3t and -5-1. It would make -2t-6

1. 6x + 5

2. perimeter=2(length) + 2(height)
p= 2(x) + 2(x-3)
p=2x + 2x-6=4x-6

3. same equation
p=2t+10 +4t=6t+10

4.-2t-4

hope this helps
