There could be a couple of resons; He has a self esteem issue, he's searching for more than just a compliment from you, his parents are degrading or non-supportive or there is something going on in his head that makes him think he is less than "worthy".

If you want to find out what the issue is, you're going to have to go out of your way and make an effort to talk to him on-on-one. Go somewhere with just you and him. Talk to him on a relaxed level and ask him things about his parents, his grades, past and current loves, how he feels about his life in general, what he wants out of life, his dreams, his brothers and sisters, etc...

Don't just listen to what he says, look at what he says, too. Body language will tell you tons about a person.

Be patient, good luck!

Some people see compliments as a way for others to manipulate their behavior.

Some people do not understand what give others the right to make opinions about them relevant.

What do you expect him to do? Bow down and kiss your ring now that he has been approved of by you. Get the idea. Oh, what happens when you start to be diappointed in him? Wow, what will you do then? Huh... Wow, it is amazing but some people do feel that way. Just tell most people you love them, and watch them give you that .... What do you want from me look.... and you will see.

some people just can't take a compliment, it is easy to give one out but hard to take one, mainly if that person doesn't believe what you are saying to be true, sometimes people think that you are saying it just to be nice, just try repeating yourself every now and then and sooner or later it will sink in

buy or get him a small personal gift, not expensive, maybe make something just to show that you have given it a great deal of thought. we are often embarrassed to accept compliments, particularly in public

Does he have or did he have a girlfriend? I think the only reason hes not believing you is because all the girls he likes didn't like him or maybe he just waiting for the perfect girl. Maybe the perfect girl for him, is you. Unless your in a relationship then.....................................
