I've heard it's more energy effiicent to put pc into hibernate mode when you leave the computer rather than it booting up every time you turn on, what's best.

When you are leaving your computer for a long time turn off it . if leave it for short time put it into standby.hibenate is for situatian you ar in hurry and have many opens program website and ....
you put it into hibernate and so all of your in progress work has been save into HDD and every time you turn on your system the are back.

Note: turn on and turn off computer rapidly do must imagine damage to your hardware.

hibernating is not energy efficient it is time saving when u hibernate the computer temporarily saves all data on the ram onto the hard disk once u restore the system it deletes the temporary files both r equally energy efficient but most people r not aware of this great feature and so never use it!!!

I turn mine off each night and just leave it on hibernate during the day.

For the pitance you pay to leave your PC on in electricity, I leave all my systems on 24/7! Consider the fact that everytime your PC cools down and heats up, stress is placed on the circuit board solder joints form expansion and contraction not to mention undue fatigue on the components!

I turn mine off to save money on the electric bill and to allow the "guts" of my computer to cool down so it will extend the life of my pc.

Better to turn off. So that the pc can start fresh each time its rebooted.

if your gonna use it later then hibernate if ur stoping fdor the day turn off

hibernate because as you said, its more energy efficent and booting it up every single time doesn't mske it energy efficent
