Ohio abolished common law marriage on 10/10/91. The state does recognize common law marriages that occurred prior to 10/10/91 but not after that date.

By the way, in regard to the previous comment, to the best of my knowledge, Wisconsin does not recognize common law marriage.

only if you have children or bought a house together in this state PS ::: Did you claim each other on your last year taxes If Not you got nothing to worry about the statue of common law regards to only the limitations I mention for this State, All states recognizes the certain rules of common law when it's listed in legal matters that involves the state address and fedral warrents from a marriage not goven by the state as legal documentation.

Nope- Unless and until you obtained a marriage certificate from your City Council office.Living gather does not qualifies you as husband and wife,nor gives you an certificate as you are Married.

No... According to a google search it was abolished Oct. 10, 1991. I knew it wasn't, my aunt and her boyfriend of 40 years just had to marry, but was unsure of the date
