I'm turning eighteen really soon but for some reason it seems depressing. Like, it's just a day but some changes in the personal life seem to be bound to come along with it.
I'll probably go to some college but there is much doubt about which one to chose as if it's difficult to make it to the ones I would really like.
Also, I'm not really sure if I can make my plans come true. They are what might matter a lot as it would decide a lot.

Finally, it's just some strange age. When I turned 13, something got me on thinking my childhood was over and I was wondering similarily like I do now. Now it's as my adolescense would be over and it leaves me to some nostalgia and a bit of depression. ;)

I don't know, I've tried cheering myself up with music or something but it seems all I have is depressive stuff...

Anyway, you can probably skip this rant now.
Or in case if you would want to answer to this - I wonder if somebody else has experienced this when turning to some age? Any ideas?
Thanks

I'm 23 and experience a lot of that randomly through the year. If you have a dream or a goal - you just have to go for it!! I have a very lofty, unusual goal of working for a company that is 2000 miles away from my family, my friends, my boyfriend (who I've been with for 4 years and does not want to live in the city that I'm headed to) and everything that I know. My goal may be lofty but I am one of very few people qualified to do the job (in my opinion) and one of very few people who would adore having this job. You have to apply yourself and try to be the best that you can be - give your goal your all. As far as birthdays and change goes - change is opportunity. Look at what you can do now that you couldn't do before. Look at what doors are opening up for you instead of concentrating on which doors are closing. At that age, I met a whole new group of friends who are still close to me today but as I get older and closer to my goals and graduating, we're growing apart and I will have to make new ones as I move on. (My sister is 16 and going through some of that right now.) It's great that who you are now and who you will be soon can be two different people if you want them to be. See this as a time to embrace any changes you may want to see in yourself. If you aren't 100% sure of what you want to be right now, that's ok too. I switched my major after about 3 years in college and am so much happier for having done so. (Listen to the advisors and take the required courses first in school even if you are convinced you are 100% sure you know what you want to major in - you may change your mind as you change and grow.)
As far as music goes, I enjoy music from when I was in 7th and 8th grade to cheer me up. Those were great times and there were a lot of good songs. I also like early 90's kinda comic rap - Rump Shaker, Daisy Dukes, Kris Cross etc but you may be a bit too young to remember all of that. If you're a girl, I highly recommend a song called "Legend of the Cowgirl" by Imanni Coppola from 1997.
Whenever I get sad, I watch a comedy show. I've been watching a lot of Reno 911 lately and it's been a good pick me up.
Good luck and don't be scared of the changes and what the future holds for you. Change is inevitable so make the best of it.

Take a nature hike.
Start the day before your birthday, hike with some friends to someplace quiet.
Get up just before sunrise on your birthday with your friends, sit close and just watch the sun rise.

Oh yeah, ZEN HUG just for you.
