I am a gay male, 27 years old, and I was wondering if my neighbor who lives above me might be gay. Now I know it's stupid to go on stereotypes, but this is what I know. He is single, lives alone, in his thirties, I would guess, has a dog, and I hear songs like "Staying Alive" and 70's 80's love song stuff, like "How deep is your love" coming out of his open door while sweeping his porch? What do you think? I know this is the STUPIDEST question, but how gay does he sound or does he sound pretty normal? LOL!

Yeah, like since the gay couple moved in across the hall, my man just can't meet his family or marital responsibilities. How could he, knowing that those perverts are over there being HAPPY? He's so busy praying for God to strike them down with divine lighting, that he doesn't even time to read his Landover Baptist Newsletter anymore, much less consumate our marriage like a maniac. To darkpheonix: (1) No, marriage hasn't always been between a man and a women. There are have been several societies in which the primary unit was a same sex couple or the mother and daughters group. In these societies, intimate contact between the sexes was for procreation, and sometimes ritualized. (2) It's not just "a piece of paper", it's the right to choose who is going to be legally considered you next of kin, a very powerful position to occupy. To chief eagle: One simply says "My parents, William and Thomas." To cybahdawg: (1) Are you saying that government should take steps to prevent the Unity Church from conferring the religious sacrament of marriage (not the legal rights, just the blessing) on same sex couples? (2) Since we have never HAD same sex unions, how can we KNOW that they will be either more or less enduring than opposite sex unions? The man-woman unions seem to be awfully transient. (3) How do you propose we deal with man-woman couples who have sex out of wedlock or visit a sperm bank? (4) "Recruit" ... what an unusual way to speak of adoption! What's up with that? Are you perpetuating the myth that homosexuals "recruit" children? Dude, that's about as far-fetched as saying there will be no left-handed people unless we "recruit" new ones. You are a silly twit. To psych0bug: If it's a religious thing, then shouldn't government be leaving it alone? Since when is it a function of our government to tell our nation's churches what God's will is?

Stupid question indeed ..
but let me answer you..
First - Why do you care?
Second - He could be a 30 years old single straight dude who likes 70's music?
Those DO exist you know..
The best way is to hack into his computer and look for the websites he goes on :P hehehe
but then you WOULD have the chance to get in trouble ..

There are many straight people who are single and have the same tastes as your neighbor. Since he lives close enough to your that you hear the music coming out of his home, why don't you talk to him when you see him outside. Get to know him a little bit.

Your right this is the stupidest question. He is probably just a normal guy unless he throws dinner parties up there in that apartment then he is definitely gay.

Sweetly put. :) I wouldn't peg him as gay just yet. My hubby is not gay but listens to the music listed above on regular basis. He just trapped in the 80's and happens to love the Beegees as well. I'd wait to see who his visitors are. Male or female and watch how he acts around them. Of course, you could do the neighborly thing and bring him a "housewarming" gift to welcome him to the neighborhood! Make a little extra supper one evening and take him some of it. Tell him you made too much and thought it would make a nice welcoming gift. Take it in disposable containers so it's up to him if he wants to visit you to "return them" or not.

you should just invite him for lunch one day and talk about life and usually He will let you know. If you make it to the meal just look at other mans around to let him know you are that way he would feel confortable ( if he is gay ) and the truth will just come with the flow

Sounds like you may be a bit attracted to him, otherwise you wouldn't care. Just strike up a conversation with him, get to know him, flirt a little bit. His reactions will give you a big clue.

Yeah pretty stupid question! lol Why don't you just try to have a general conversation with him? Music, does not give you a answer about ones sexuality!

Why don't you say 'hi' and get to know him, if he is a nice guy then enjoy his company regardless if he is gay or straight.
Eventually you will probably figure it out, but for now why does it matter.
