Well for a few months now...my mom claimed that she has the gift of mediumship. At first me and my sister was skeptical and kind of grew to believe her until something happened Early Thanksgiving morning. My sister(she stays with our mom; I live with my husband and 3 kids) called and said that she's been up all night long screaming, and having an arguement with someone. The people she mentioned were not of the dead but people that still walk this earth...my dad...which lives in alabama(We're in Michigan). My mom and dad are still legally married but have been apart for 15 years now. She has also "argued" with his other lady. So, while she had me on the phone I could hear the screaming and cursing as if these people were standing there with her...and my sister said she's been doing this all night long. My sister got off the phone with me to calm her down...and then I called back and my mom answered the phone and asked me where my father was and to keep him away from the kids because...

he was going to hurt the children. Me and my sister think this is not a medium psyhic thing going on here...and we want to get her some help....we asked her if she would see a doctor and she blew up at us and got all defensive. Saying we don't understand a medium...and we are the crazy ones. The conversation got really emotional and I wish I could give you more...but I know what I need to do...I just don't want to do it. Give me your thoughts on this one

she hasn't been sleeping, and when asked her about the doctor she told us to mind our business and she knows she'll pass the test...omg. So I have to go to the crisis center and have the police come and pick her up for an evaluation, because she refused to go.

Schitzophrenia? Sounds more like there's a mental disorder going on. It's not uncommon for this to surface in later years even if there's been no prior history..... If there's no drug or alcohol involvement I would seriously put in a call to her physician first thing tomorrow morning.

I'll keep you in my prayers. What a tough thing to have to do! You ARE doing the right thing though. Just remember your mother is not in a state of mind to recognize that but one day she'll appreciate it. The life she's living and experiencing right now can't be a happy one and she may not realize she needs help. Her quality of life will improve once she gets help and they can find out what's going on.

Your mother is suffering from some kind of schizophrenia. My father had the same problem but I couldn't get him institutionalized becuase he was drinking alcohol even though he was diagnosed paranoid schizo.. Unless she is a danger to herself or others you probably won't have luck getting her forced help. But you should try anyways. Look around in her house very well. Your looking for sharp objects such as razors or knives that have blood on them. Look for blood on her clothes also. Then check for any type of drug, prescribed or non-prescribed. Remember just bc you think she's not doing drugs doesn't mean that she isn't. If you can find anything that she writes on such as a diary or a notepad. You need to build a report of anything she could use to harm herself or another. Just remember she is seeing people that don't exist and arguing with them so it isn't unthinkable that this illness could turn bad real quick. Remember that your the sane one and you must make the decisions for her in order to help her.

Honey... you should take what she is saying into account. She might not be half as nuts as you all may seem to think.

I work for a Paranormal Research Group and as weird as it sounds.. it is very possible. I deal with talking to Astral beings, such as; Angels, Entities, Spirits from things that is beyond our physical Plane.

If you are wondering... take a recorder (digital) and place it where she is... leave it for a long period of time... if you know she is the only one talking, try to capture another that you know is not of her voice and not present. You'll be surprised!

My mom used to believe funny things and talk to people that aren't there. She was eventually diagnosed with schizophrenia. It sucks, but now that she is on medicine, it's like having my mom back. However, she did not get on the medicine until a judge forced her to (because she was a threat to herself and others due to what the voices were telling her).

Good luck with your mom. I hope it doesn't have to get to the point that a judge has to force her to take meds. If it does take court intervention, just realize that is normal.

she does kinda sound like a schizophrenic (a person who believes they're someone else, not a person with multiple personalities, as most people think) she believes she's a medium. personaly I'm sceptical of that idea, but you should get her to a phychiatrist before she harms herself or others.
