sounds like it time for a overhaul, about $2000 :(

what you are hearing most likely is the front connecting rods and main bearing, they are the first to go as there the furthest from the oil pump and get starved for oil. not hard unless you know nothing about engines. you could just replace the short block or a long block or go with a junk yard motor, and you know that a S15 never came with a 305 from the factory, its been changed

engins are tricky best to do is R & R (rip it out and replace it)
you can find a engin in the junk jard that should fit or have it rebuilt....
if you have no clue having the work done is the best answer...
