If you don't have a doctor or insurance you can go to Planned Parenthood for just general OB stuff too--infections, yearly exams, birth control, etc. I did it for years. (Also I sometimes used other community clinics, depending where I lived.)
I had a lot of itching, but only the first month after my delivery. My midwife said it was mostly the stitches, and it did seem to stop soon after the stitches dissolved.
Your question doesn't mention whether or not you had an episiotomy.
If you did have one, more tissue was cut/stitched, and more healing would be taking place and the itching might last longer. However, 9 months does seem like a long time--I would guess you probably have a bit of an infection.
You can buy an over-the-counter urinary tract infection test (UTI test) to see if you have a bacterial bladder infection--vaginal infections can lead to bladder infections.
Also, you can get the kind of UTI test that tests for two things (look at the box--it tests for nitrites and white blood cells). You can sometimes use this to see if you have a vaginal infection (but not a UTI), if just the white blood cell test is positive (but not the nitrites.)
Note: these don't test for yeast, just bacteria.
Another possible factor is that vaginal dryness from hormonal changes can contribute to itching, and dryness can also contribute to getting infections that cause itching.
There are a lot of resources online to heal yourself from a simple vaginal infection, but if you do have one and it doesn't go away pretty quickly, you should try to get in somewhere to get antibiotics.

I haven't had my baby yet but have done alot of reading and I came across something that said the area would be itchy for a few months if you had alot of tears however your body should be somewhat back to normal by now you say 9 months that is a long to it could possibly be a yeast infection. there must be an emergency hot line toll free you can call look in your phone book or call the local ER they will know a #. good luck.

I had a baby 9 months ago as well. That seems odd to me. I never heard of that? Well I suggets using Web MD if you can't go to a doc. Have you tried creams that are for vaginal itching? I hope you can find some help, that must be so darn frustrating! Good Luck!

If your vaginal area is itching, it could be a sign of infection. Go to a free clinic in your area and have it checked out. It's hard when you have a tight budget, but you should really make your health a priority for the sake of your child!

You should try to get some yeast infection products. I've never had a yeast infection but my mom has--it sounds like you might have one.
My son is ten months. I had a vaginal birth and I've never had any itch past about six weeks.

If it still itches after 9 months its probably a yeast infection. Go to cvs they got creams you can get over the counter to ease the pain. But if the creams dont work then I suggest you go to a free clinic and speak too a doctor.

Christopher, there are two kinds of births; Vaginal and Cesearen Section. Anyhow, it actually doesn't sound like a yeast infection, but bacterial vaginosis, which does require an RX.

I did for a little while but not that long ( did you have stitches) anyways I would go to the nearest planned parenthood to make sure that you do not have a yeast infection or something like that
Good Luck

Any boo boo that is healing itches.... Not sure how long it lasts but perhaps you could go to a sliding scale doctor or planned parenthood for a lesser fee. You need to care for you own health too :-)
