how do you type in a dash on the computer?

i need to put in a dash in my writting, how do i do it?

don't write in "just type in "in a dash"
i'm talking about the dash sign.

there's a key which is two keys to the left of the delete key. thats the dash key. press that. shift that key is underscore.

Between the zero key and the addition symbol/equal sign key, there's a button with a dash, click on it.

the key next to the zero key has 2 lines.....

if you press this it will give you a dash (a.k.a. HYPHEN)

Also if you hit SHIFT then the "dash" key you can get an underscore .... (used in some e-mail adresses)

In ms word you can go to insert character and it will be in there somewhere, and if you are lucky you can go -- twice and it will turn into a big dash but that is only so often

I know this works in word, but I'm not sure about other programs
