Are there any other goods or services sold to the public that do that besides Gas by gallon?

When gas cost 39 cents a gallon, it was a rip-off technique that allowed the stations to charge almost 40, but it looked like 39! But now that it is 2 plus a gallon, it is just a remnant of those old days. Silly really

Every gas station does that. It means for every gallon of gas you purchase, you are not paying $2.00, you are paying two dollars and 9/10 of a cent, which is almost $2.01. This is the gas station's way of taking out the sales tax for you so you don't have to pay it afterwards.
