No its not really okay. The prom is the time to wear a nice elegant evening gown. Not a suit, no matter how fancy it is. You don't have to spend a lot of money on a dress, just do what my friend and I did for our senior prom. Go to ross or a store like that. They have a bunch of dresses that department stores were selling last season for like 30 bucks. We both looked really good.

EXACTLY!
Not wearing a dress would make you stand out,
isn't that a good thing?
Well anyways,
as long as the blazer and pecil skirt isn't too plain and isn't too over the top,
I'm pretty sure you can pull it off.
I myself think that some girls go way over the top for prom.
I think it's OK to not wear a dress to prom,
as long as you don't go in casual wear ^.^
In the end,
just wear what you want to wear for prom.
Wish ya luck :]

I don't think you have to wear a dress. You could wear a fancy pants outfit and still look as dressy and fly as any other girl in the room, maybe better. Make a statement and do it big. Don't be afraid to be different girl! I bet you'll get all the attention too! :-)

I might suggest wearing a black kirt that is really flowing and twirls when you walk-but yes I would wear a dress. It can even have shorts under it for comfort. My sister is a major tomboy, and she wore a skirt to the prom.

i would say that a dress probably is a must have for prom. i know thye can be expensive, but all the proms i have ever heard of have all the girls wearing dresses. im not saying you HAVE to have one of those full-length-almost-like-a-brides maid-dress but a dress would be the best way to go.

I think it would be ok to wear a "non- traditional" outfit to your prom. You can stand out, be comfortable, and be in style - in your own way! The important thing is if you feel good in your outfit to have a good time and enjoy your style.

The prom is a formal event. It is proper etiquette to wear a formal DRESS.

Why not, sounds cool! Be different! Don't be a sheep, but make sure you feel 100% comfortable with what you are wearing or it will ruin your night!
