Faith = character

In my opinion if you have Faith, you tend to want to do what it right, and you TRY to be a better person.

I am highly conservative and I tend to distrust candidates who wear their religion on their sleeve.

I think that the most effective sign of spirituality is when I can see it without hearing it.

So, I suppose c.

I'm a Democrat and it doesn't make a bit of difference to me one way or the other about the person's religious beliefs. Why? Because God isn't running for office. God should be kept out of politics and people should address the issues. I'm getting really sick and tired of people trotting out God whenever its convenient for the sake of getting votes. Look at Bush - he trots out God every chance he gets and is the most incompetent boob to ever serve as President. Jimmy Carter wasn't much better and he was on the God bandwagon as well.

We should be more concerned with a person's grasp on the issues and how they would handle problems than whether or not they go to church on Sunday and seek guidance from what they perceive to be a higher power. If they were the best candidate - Republican or Democrat - I'd vote for an athiest. God has no business in the political arena unless he's running for office.

Having a strong faith in Cod does not make you capable of doing whats best for this country .
I am a moderate ,a little of both .
Look at this President , by professing his faith has made him a good Christan , not a good leader .
No , It does not make me more incline to vote for them .
I look at how they live their religion and do what they say , not say what they'll do , then don't .
c. depends

I'm a moderate Independent voter. I think that strong faith can be a plus. The only problem I have with it is from those who think they have God in their watchpocket and have no respect for others that feel differently. This is a nation of many religions, and anyone in public office should be cognizant of that fact at all times. Reagan was a very religious man, but he was very careful to keep his faith and his politics separate. He did not hit others over the head with his faith, or use it to sway public opinion. Bush is also supposedly a very religious man. But he doesn't seem to understand that it isn't his job to insert it into a Constitution that serves all Americans, not just Christians (I am speaking of the failed amendment re marriage). He doesn't hesitate to use it against others in this country who don't follow his religious path, or use his faith to deceive his religious followers with promises he never meant to keep. They got him elected and that's all he cared about. A President who would use religion to serve his own ends is one we can do without.

Just experiencing Bush's Presidency, with the overtones of religious bias we get out of the Oval Office, will make me much more wary of those running for public office in the future that use their religion as part of their platform.

1. I am a Conservative who has no place in the Democrat Party and has been abandoned by those who have handed control of the Republican Party over to the neo-cons.

2. B. If he/she is so stupid that he/she can't figure out that murder, thievery and lying are wrong without having it pointed out to them, I certainly don't want them in government.

Ours is a Constitutional government. Any candidate (or any citizen for that matter) who places their "faith" above the Constitution is, and should be treated as, a subversive.

Far less likely.

1. Neither Dem or GOP
2. b.

A person with a strong faith in god is more likely to use faith based judgement as opposed to logic and reasoning.

Strongly religious people believe they are "right"., and that anything that goes against this belief is "evil". This is exceptionally dangerous because that is not how the world works.

Strongly religious people have more of a tendancy to force their veiws and beliefs on others instead of letting people decide for themselves what they want to believe.

But you don't have to take my word for it. Throughout the history of civilization, when the religious have had power they have used it to do deplorable acts. Even if they were not directly in power, they used their influence to accomplish there own questionable gains.

Even now, religions are used justify brutal ends-justify-the-means campaigns in the Middle East. In the US, they are used as a distraction form the real issues (also known as wedge issues) by inciting people's emotions instead of their logic.

History speaks for itself, as well as present day. Strongly religious leaders can be quite dangerous.

c. depends on if I believe them or not. Many people of 'faith' have come out to be worse at following the 10 commandments than those of us who follow them silently.

I pity you people who limit yourselves by saying that you are republicans or what ever. If they believe in GOD and do the right thing then you know they are not running for any political office. Name one person who is in office that is a good man. And don't start with you blind love for Bush. When you know that bastard is raping the United States for all its got. We are going to end up like Mexico with the Rich being Powerful and the poor dying. No middle class.
