Graffiti is a form of vandalism. It is not a valid form of artwork. When someone hires an artist to work their walls with spray bombs and brushes then you are getting out of graffiti and into the realms of hired talent. That my friend is valid. Why bother studying a transient form of vandalism when you can study something more serious. Like wall murals.

Hi, my name is philip.
I just moved from europe and now I live in michigan...
I grew up with graffiti, heres the thing I started art when I was about 4 and by the age of 10 I started sketching and by the age of 12 I started graffiti.
I am still in highschool now but I already know the answer...
Many artists I know went and studied graphics or general arts!!! and in that category you can find lettering and logo and letterheads.... But the downturn is you cant just only study graffiti... and dude do you already do graffiti? ( if yes please email me )

graffiti art an as this art form is a world wide phenomena
dating back to the stone age.
you can find it on the pyramids for example or you can see some carved into Muslim temples by the knights from the crusades.
given these historical references and the diversity of the media,
not to forget its cultural implication's i would say yes most definitely.

Yes, but art is all about 'context'. If you can validate the art in a social context then go ahead. Look at the artist Banksy, for example. Social pest, or subversive commentator! I think it's an interesting argument. why should art be hung in a gallery- elitist surely. Because it is free does it have no value!! keep going, man. This is an important debate I feel.

graffiti IS an art form UNLESS the artist is doing harm to another's person, place, or thing. Then, in that case it is violence, Not ART.
Art inspires, Art transends time ot does not harm.

That all depends on the kind of graffiti. I believe that some of it is for sure.
