so on my hood the clear coat is coming off and it bugs me so much. do autozone sell some type of clear coat to fix it or should i just have the whole car redone. its only coming off the hood but i noticed its starting to come off the trunk to. is there anything i can use to help prevent it from coming off. thanks

There is no great solution other than a paint job but u may stop the peeling by waxing or rubbing compound. But to fix it all together you can have just the trunk and ood color matched with new paint and clear.

There is no fix other than removal of the outer surface paint (clear) and complete refinish. Could this perhaps be a GM truck? If so, this was a chronic problem with their vehicles for years. The rotten part is GM knew about the problem but opted to keep the production line moving and just repaint the vehicles if the original owners screamed loud enough. And they wonder why GM is facing bankruptcy...

Was it a Chrysler product? I had that happen to my Neon many years ago and they repainted the hood and trunk. If not too old, I would check with the company for a recall notice.

when you do get your car repainted make sure to have a good clear coat put back on the car, the hood, roof, and the trunk get the brunt of the sun's uvs.Hence thats why its the first to go on cars.

my ford has it too so it's every maker that was affected , some customizers are putting on basecoat only and calling it suede ! it will happen again unless you pay big $$$ good luck .
