If as claimed by Westminster, Scotland receives a lot more money from Westminster than it puts in, why do English MP's always resist the idea of an Independent Scotland, surley this is bad management, most financial advisers would recommend getting rid of non profit making sections of a business, and at the end of the day thats one of the main functions of Westminster, to balance the books, the same as any other business

It is the same situation with the E.U, I think that we pay a lot more in than we get out of it to subsidise the uneconomic European farmers (especially the French) who according to the newspapers are laughing at us and also the ridiculous human rights clauses. Before the E.U. we were an independent nation now we seem to be controlled by Brussels. I suggest we get our Independence back then we can sort our own problems out

This is an old debate - Westminster don't like to admit that they are really only subsidising Scotland when really that are just paying us back a percentage of the revenue they receive from our natural resources and local industries. Scotland has quite a thriving progressive economy and a lot of the big UK companies have back up plans in the event of devolution to reinstate regional offices as Scottish headquarters to prevent loss of business and this in turn takes income away from Westminster. Its never going to be clear cut unless it actually happens as to who is really subsidising who.

Scotland will become independent again. it may take time but we'll get there. personally i think sooner the better.
Regarding scottish mp's voting on english/welsh matters.. why shouldnt they.?. After all the english have voted onmatters affecting scotland for centuries. The poll tax? trialled in scotland and only dumped after the english rioted. Yet the scotts suffered it for a year first.
The english whinge about scots. and we whine about them. lets do the decent thing, cut each other loose and see who comes off best.. i can almost guarantee us north of the border will be better of not only financially but socially too.

Scotland has a degree of self rule brought about by devolution and that can only be a good thing. England and Scotland have a shared history and culture and despite the crowings of a small number of seperatists we are one nation. I am half Scottish and half English and I live in England. I think youll find more Scots south of the border than in Scotland and probably more English in Edinburgh than Scots. Together we are a great nation - why would any sane person want to jepardize that???

Scotland does receive much more taxpayer money per person than England. I live in Scotland and resent it, it's unfair.

Furthermore, it's ludicrous that Scottish MPs can vote on bills that relate only to England like education and health. Without these scottish votes, many of BLiars bills would not have been passed.

I live in the U.S. but am Scottish, and I think Scotland would be able to govern itself, and would probably be better off, they did for centuries, but this should only happen if it is the will of the Scots themselves.

Do not leave us in the lurch, Scotland needs England., we are manifestly unable to govern ourselves- I mean, just take a look at that parliament building!

And if we did not have the English to moan about, our lives would be emptier somehow.

I am a Scotsman, but I am also a realist- a rare breed indeed! But actually I think that Scottish independence is now inevitable.

I seem I have been preaching to the converted , if only the government would listen, same for Northern Ireland , let the south have it back , it is costing the British people billions, just to satisfy the egoistic individuals like Mr Paisley and that character Stone, we have let all the other conquered countries go , Like Pakistan, India , and all the other dominions , let Ireland go and Wales if it comes to that, we could manage on our own , could they , no, they want to stay in with us to milk us of our hard earned money, their contribution would not cover the dole money we contribute to them
