Sometimes just wiggling the cord gently can help your compter recognize it, otherwise just keep removing it and reinserting, the computer will find it.
Make sure your usb ports aren't full of dust too

there are too many things that can cause this.....depends on so many things............without knowing the camera or the system you're using I would suggest...........turning off the computer.....plug in the camera and turn it on........then reboot the computer.
If after a minute or two after the reboot is complete you still don't get a message pop on the desk top open "my computer" look at the bottom of the list of appliances and if the camera or a strange hard drive are shown click on it to open the download.
If there is nothing there, go to the help section of the camera's manufacturer's web site and ask there..........don't forget to tell them the make and model of your computer with the type of operating system) and camera make and model..........they are all different.

Your computer should tell you new device found. If it doesn't I suggest you leave it connected and reboot. Then if it still doesn't recognize the disk try going to computer icon and look for connected disks. You may need a install disk for your OS to find the hd.Hope this helps.

With camera on and connected, go to control panel, install new hardware and see if it will pick up.
Then try the camera and scanner wizard.
