I understand that the primary difference between the silicone implants of today and those of the past are twofold. One, the actual mambrane that holds the silicone is stronger, sometimes double layered and some are now more naturally shaped as well. The silicone itself is now a gel, not a liquid. It has properties that make it want to bind together and therfore, if an implant were to tear, the gel stays together and doesn't spread throughout the body. You should speak to a doctor, of course, but I believe the above to be correct.

The sack is still made of silicone it is filled with saline.
The sack can get a small leak which can make the silicone breakdown
The silicone is still the same still dangerous can become attached to muscles, ribcage attack your system.

silicone can be very harmful to the body if the implants leak. my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and months afterwards she got silicone implants. The implants ended up leaking into her body and she became very sick. When she went to the doctor about it, he told she had a leak that needed to be taken care of quickly. If she had not went to the doctor, she would have died. There was a show on montel williams about a lady who had silicone implants that leaked and they removed what looked like a 5 inch thick, 5 inches in length black rock, it was the toxin in the silicone in her body. get salene implants, they're much safer and wont poison you if they leak. hope this helps! :D

My mom has salene implants. It is a lot safer than silicone because sterile salene is not toxic to the body.
