This is a difficult situation. I'm a mum, my daughters are now nearly 16 and nearly 19. You probably think I'm going to side with your mum now. I'm not. I think it's a bit silly to try and stop your children having relationships once they feel ready to. However, your mum probably isn't saying that just to make your life unhappy. She's probably doing what she thinks is best to protect you.

This might be hard for you but you need to find a time when you and your mum are both calm and relaxed and can have a proper talk. Speak to your mum about it, find out what her concerns are. Don't get angry and avoid saying "yeah but....." Listen to what she has to tell you. You may find that you can put her mind at rest. For example she may be concerned that you will be forced to have sex before you are ready. She may be worried that you will get involved with drugs or start drinking. She may not know what she's scared of. Talking about it in an adult way will help you understand each others point of view. At this stage don't try and persuade her. Just listen to her point of view and hope that she will listen to yours.

If she still decides in the end you are too young for a boyfriend then don't be too upset. You have plenty of time for boyfriends. I know it sounds a bit patronising and I don't mean to but really, in a year or so you'll wonder what you were so worried about.

ur not the only one, same here, there just so over-protective. they think they are doing the best but you cant stop kids from having relationships. there like controlling you and its not fair.
