Seat Ibiza 1.4 problem - Stalling when slowing down to a stop or going around corners.?

I copied this question from an ealier post June 2006 as the description is 100% a good representation of the problem I have, same car, size and engine code.

Seat Ibiza 1.4 problem?
When i drive the car to a stop, like at a junction, the engine revs go very low before returning to normal, and sometimes the engine cuts out. When diving with the revs at about 2500 rpm, it seems to miss fire occationally.
I have replaced sparkplugs, leads, distributer cap and rotor arm.
I have also gone around i think all electrical connections.
The engine seems to rev freely and responsive, and nothing wrong with starting.
It is a 1.4ltr AEX engine, 1996 P reg.

I have axectly the same dangerous problem.
There were some replies of great interest but I am hoping if someone has got this fixed and tracked down the exact fault.

Any ideas will be very greatfully recieved

I'd look into possibly transmission locking up and drawing the engine down as speed decreases.

check the oxygen sensors and vacuum lines
