if you are asking about the regular green tree frog that you find all over the U.S. no it is not poisonous, yes you can hold it ( if you can catch it ) they are hard to keep hold of and jump very well. there are some poisonous variaties but to the best of my knowledge none of them can survive in the US, and they all have Very Bright skin tones, aside from green.

Some tree frogs emit a poisonous substance on their skin. The poison curare is made form this substance by the natives of the Amazon region. They tip their poison darts used in their blow guns with it. It has also been made into a medicine that paralysis breathing that is used in medicine to take over the breathing of a person in respiratory distress so that a machine can breath for them without any resistance from the patient trying to fight the machines actions. Most other tree frogs are not poisonous. Even the poisonous ones can be held in the hand as the poison must be ingested or scratched under the skin to be effective. They eat insects as a general rule.

If the tree frogs you are inquiring about live in the continental United States, they are non-poisonous. They would be safe to hold, provided you have no allergy to either their skin, glandular secretions or urine. Personally, I would not hold one in my bare hand...wear a glove.
Some of the SOUTH American types are very dangerous, and are used by natives to make arrow poisons to use in hunting activities.
I doubt that they would enjoy "being held", and their food consists of any kind of living thing they can fit in their big mouths...insects, slugs, grubs, et cetera...

Some are - and some are not.
You will need to look up the specific species of frog on the internet (Google or Ask) to find out.
