I have bought PS2 in US. I want to gift it to my sister in India. But later I realized that there can be compatibility issues. Will this PS2 console work with TVs in India? If not, then is there any solution for this problem? Also, will the games available in India work with this PS2? The second one is not a major problem.. I can send games from US.

The power supply is no problem, voltage and pin converters are easily available.

The only problem I could think of would be incompatable power. The plug on a PS2 and the outlets used in India are different. An easy cure would be to purchase a travel power adapter at Radio Shack.

well this will work for you. JUST see at the back of your ps2. there is a sticker in the corner which would have either NTSC or PAL written on it. Sony follows a region protection policy. All ps2 in INDIA are PAL. Although the ps2 would work fine with the correct pin but in case you have a ntsc ps2 then the INDIAN games would not work on it. THe ps2 would work fine. I have brought mine from INDIA to Sydney and it is working fine. To play the Indian games or pal games you would have to get a chip installed (easily available in Palika Mkt in INDIA) to play all games even the pirated ones. So Happy Gaming.

Sure they will work in the televisions of India. There might be the voltage difference between lines in US and India, which can be adjusted by a regulator which is in almost all the electronic gadgets. But my advise is that you may gift the PS2 to some others and wait for sometime and buy her a new PS3 or an X-box 360.

Yes it definetly works!

Just purchase a PS2 CD that works in all regions because there are region restrictions for DVDs and CDs, and for PS2 CDs off course. ;)

And also, be sure to check the power supply, I think PS2 in US has a 110v power supply, and in India has 220v i think. Just buy a step-up transformer, to convert 110v to 220v.

With TVs,(There are different video standards, the 2 famous standards are PAL and NTSC) I think if its in PAL(phase-alternating line), convert it to NTSC (National Television Standards Committee) , there is a PAL-NTSC / NTSC-PAL converter, so that your PS2 will work in all Indian Televisions

I hope this helps...
