I hate him though I haven't seen his movie but I think it is bullshit. Borat is stupid and it is not fair to make fun of other nations and people.

The problem I have with Borat is that he claims to be mocking stereotypes while actually promoting them, and see nothing redeeming in comedy that targets people from poor, isolated villages in former communist countries. Imagine if Michael Richards, instead of utteing his racist rant, instead put on Black face and went around pretending to be African-American and acted as if he embodied every single stereotype people had about African Americans. I'm guessing no one who is defending this movie would find that funny or brilliant, and the only difference is that the people being attacked in Borat are unknown to most in the west.

I for one do NOT hate the character Borat OR Sacha Cohen. I think he is so funny and hope he comes out with another movie with one of his other characters soon.
Try watching the movie and reading up on him before passing judgement.
That would be like me saying, "I hate you and think you are stupid for making fun of Sacha Cohen without seeing what he is really all about."

First things first.
Those of you who say "He's making fun of others" are so off base it must mean you just haven't watched the show or that you're an idiot yourself
Cohen doesn't make fun of the people he interviews (as borat, or Ali G or bruno) the people make fun of themselves by being biggoted, homophobic or just plain dumb! he preys on our ability (mostly americans) to think we know it all and that a know-nothing Foreigner who says his sister is a prostitute that he has sex with must be commonplace for those "foreigners". We americans are so smug, biggoted and stupid that we can't see past our own american flag clouded eyes.
Do you really think other people in other countries actually have inidividuals who enjoy rape as a pastime?

You people who don't like Borat are the very ones who he gets to say all of the racist things that make me laugh

OH and RAMY7 - you must not pay any attention to the world outside your bubble you live in because recently a kazakhstani writer made waves in the country by nominating Cohen as the entertainer of the year becuase he has raised the WORLD's attention to Kazakhstan the nation.

I've watched Ali G for quite awhile and I think Sacha Cohen is very funny. He's actually quite intelligent and I find most of the people who don't like him don't get his jokes.
Borat is just a character he plays and he plays it very well looking at the crap he's stirred up about this character.
One thing people have to remember....it's just a character, Borat is NOT real....but he is real funny!

Please see screenwriter Craig "Scary Movie" Mazin's blog entry of 11/14/06 at www.artfulwriter.com. It makes no sense to "hate" a celebrity or their work. You vote with your tickets or ratings numbers. You vote with a bad review. You have plenty of entertainment options elsewhere... go enjoy them!
The gist of Mazin's entry can be summed up in this passage: "I say this to you all, but doubly and triply if you’re in college or a recent graduate of college: no one cares if you’re offended."
Borat, for example, is a terrible Anti-semite. Sascha Baron Cohen is, himself, Jewish. Borat is a caricature. He doesn't celebrate that attitude, he skewers it --- just as the inimitable Stephen Colbert does when he plays a right wing republican version of himself on his program.

The box office shows him making millions so alot of people enjoy the art of making fun of others alot. It is beyond humor to be so wicked and mean in comedy as he is portraying himself as this character. His tonite show appearance also showed how raw and raunchy his humor can be too.
