Two weeks ago I recaulked my tub. Problem is that it won't fully harden. I waited 2 days before using the shower/tub. I think it is to cold to set up right. I have heard of adhesive strips that you can use....any ideas?

for you best success take the little extra time and dig out all the most recent caulking as is is obviously of the wrong consistency.

Use a high grade bathtub caulking. Get an old rag damp. Cut the nozzle part of the caulking tube into a 45 degree angle. Apply a long even line of caulking where required then use a moistened finger to flatten the caulking into the area desired. Use the damp rag to keep your finger clean and moist. You will find you are able to make the caulking path appear professionally installed. Use the moist rag for clean up - toss the rag out as rinsing it in the home sink may clog the drain and rinsing it outside is tough on the environment.

There are some suggested alternatives but nothing works better then what is "highly recommended". Unless it is snowing in your bathroom any quality bathtub caulking should work.

Did you read the directions on the caulk? Does it say anything about using at a certain temperature? It it does I would remove it and find one that says for bathroom use. When applying the caulk I would have several plastic spoons ready. After applying the caulk I would use the spoon by pulling it backwards along the caulk. ( use the bottom of the spoon) This will give you a finished look.

You may have just gottne the wrong type caulking at the building supply. I would give it a month or so to set up before I would try to remove it however.

Hows about you caulk it, and use a fan, space heater, or hair dryer when you can to get the caulk to set?

You know caulk is supposed to still be flexible when it's on, right?
