Theres this guy and we really like eachother. My mom heard from my best friend, my younger brother (by one year), and my other friend that he's emo and goth. Yeah, he dresses emo ish but he doesnt cut himself he told me he would never do anything like that. Also, he hangs out with the goths/emos at our school. I personally like him whether or not he dresses like that as long as he doesnt go to far (he only wear band tees and has black hair(naturally) that he wears straight down over some of his face). I think he's really nice and funny and actually really cares about me. But after my mom heard some peoples' thoughts about how he's emo/goth (which hes not only a little...) , she doesn't like him anymore. What should i do? I'm starting to doubt because my mom's opinion matters alot you know?

It's sweet that you care about your mother's opinion, but she doesn't know the guy and you do. All that she knows about him is hearsay, and I'm sure she'd be the first to admit that she should know him before passing judgment. He seems like a nice guy, so see if you can find a way for him and your mom to meet. I'll sure your mom will see some of the good qualities in him that you see, and she'll be fine with you hanging out with him.

Ummm to some extent I do. I advise, my well known kind of music is metallic and that i do positioned on band tees (i'm donning my Pantera blouse good now), studded belts and such issues as that. i do not move way intense although that even although that if I had the freedom to I likely ought to. My mom and father nonetheless have various of administration over the way i look so perhaps issues receives a touch scary at the same time as they don't, i do not comprehend haha with the help of ways, I in simple terms requested a question about an indie band i'm rather loving presently (hint, hint) =P Oh and Pi Chart, do not talk about someone you do not comprehend because then it in simple terms makes you sound like a judgmental a**.

It is actually very nice that you listen to your mum and her opinions, but everyone is equal, just because he's a goth it doesn't mean he's a horrible person, its just that he has a different way of looking at things and a different way of dressing.. why don't you yourself do some research on Goth's, then see what you think then if you thinks its ok, explain to your mum whats it all about.. Don't ever be to quick to judge, with out goths, punks and others this world, life would be quite dull and boring, Every one has the right to be who they are. You make your own mind up... and if its ment to be it will happen

U shd listen to ppl's opinion but not much. Listen to what ppl says but try to find out urself whether it's true or not. Trust ur instinct too.

If your mom's oppinion means that much to you than ask her if she would be willing to help you out. Ask her to meet him at dinner and to let you know what she thinks. Than make up your own mind. You can ask others for their oppinions but in the end it's up to you.

You're mother is judging him on appearance and what other people say. She doesn't know him or how he acts. If you like him and he likes you like you say then you should forget you mom and go for it.
