u can check "dar el orman" in dokki. its the biggest orphanage in cairo. but then again, for that particular reason, it's the one that gets the most visits and donations.
u can check with NGOs like meshwar, resala, el halemoun bel ghad, stuff like that.. they can lead u into the right direction
may Allah reward u for ur goodness and ur desire to help and share! :)

I don't think we'll ever really know why exactly, but the possibility that it's a mistake from what little I know about politics seems to be logical. Egypt isn't a threat to the USA anyhow, so it doesn't seem to have much political motive behind it. Egypt's an ally and the government is merely an extension of U.S. policies in my limited knowledge about the subject. Also, the article I read mentioned a warning was given out in arabic by a native speaker and I would not doubt that. Perhaps the people in the boat were deaf or not paying attention to the warnings...I could understand the dillemma the crew on ship was facing because one really can't tell what will happen and if protocol was followed warnings were probably given. There isn't much reason for americans to want to upset the egyptians since the egyptian government is full of puppets for u.s. policy anyway.

i'm from ismailia , there are about 3 orphanages that i know about here but they don't have a website ,and i can ask about portsaid and suez if you want ..
if you seek just visits and play with them and stuff just tell me (using im or any other methode) where exactly are you and i'll describe the nearest orphanage to you in the suez canal area..
about adoption , i think that the law doesn't allow foreigners to adopt children (you're a foreigner right?)
and if the law allows there will be a problem of the religion , there are orphanages that follow the church and they will only allow the christians to adopt , and others who follow the government and they allow only muslims to adopt , and in both cases the law doesn't give the adopted the same name as the adopter..

If you are looking for some in the Suez Canal. We have many in Ismailia, 2 hours from Cairo, and on the Suez Canal.
Unfortunately, they don't have web sites or things like that but u can come and ask.
But if u are looking for adoption, forget it , Egypt is no China . Adoption is not allowed here because of the religion.
You can just spend some time with them , or bring them sweets and food in the national holidays . One is coming very soon, we call it the big Eid "El Eid El Kebeer". You might wanna cheer them up on that day.

I would not come on here to ask that kind of advice. Try the Egyptian Embassy. You don't just go to places like that.. There are reputable charities and aid groups for that sort of thing. I am not saying you will get into trouble, but you should really do it through the proper authorities. There is a lot of danger in the middle east and you don't want to go upsetting anybody. Their customs are very different to ours and what might seem OK to you, may not be OK in others eyes. Good luck though. I hope you can do what you are planning to do.
