Nothing will FRY, but some motherboards will slow everything down to the same speed. It would be best to use the identical memory, so everything works properly. Loop up your system at http://www.coastmemory.com and see what they recommend for your RIG.

Good Luck and Happy Computing!

Check the manufacturer's website first, or you can do a search with your motherboard type, then the type of RAM you want to use and see any results. Sorry that I can't answer more specifically, but it's difficult to get a straight answer unless someone else with the exact same hardware has tried the same thing you're attempting.

I have almost the same setup as you. I'm using ASUS P5ND2-SLI motherboard that supports DDR2 667 and I'm using 4x 512MB pqi turbo DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) ram and everything has gone swimingly since installation

Yes, it will just reduce the MB speed to the speed of the memory. It'll sorta be like having a freeway that allows 100mph but you only drive 80. no harm-no foul. you're just not utilizing the full potential of your MB buss speed.
