There are no perfect relationships of permanent total happiness, so when something is wrong and things are not going smoothly, one might start thinking of that person especially if you see her/him and keep in touch. In a heart there's room for many people.
These are usually people one puts on an imaginary oriole. If they are that good and love you, you should be with them then. If they are not, they have bad taste ;)
If you like someone, even if that's a friend, don't be afraid and act, don't leave a "what if"- that's another way to get over it.
Frankly, I'm now removing a "what if" like that being in a relationship with someone I couldn't get over.

No because it had to be a really good reason why me and the person broke up in the first place. The person must have done something really horrible towards me to break up with them because I always give chances and do everything I can to salvage or maintain the relationship.

there was somone i went out with a few years ago and she was really special, i gave it 100% and it didnt work out...i learnt a hard lesson, and that is no matter what you feel for somone, if the other person aint feeling you like that, its very hard to change anything...BUT..what i did do is take what i learnt form the relationship into my new relationship with the girl im with now...im very happy with the girl im with now, but i do think of my old girl somtimes, but i know it wasnt meant to be..it dont make who im with now second best, its just that in my head it proberlly seems that she is more special than i remmber cos i put her quite higly..if you get me
