1 n a half inches
cos 1 inch makes up two thirds of the stick.
If one third of the stick is in Water, then the rest of the stick must be out of the water. Only 1 inch of the stick is out of the water, and this one inch must make up the other two thirds of the stick.
So the stick is 1 and a half inches long.

The answer 6 is correct;
Call the length of the stick x
One half is in sand and one half is out of sand
Of the half that is out of the sand the amount of the stick covered by water equal to one third of x.
Therefore, one third x plus 1” = one half x
Written mathematically,
x/3 + 1 = x/2
Cross multitpy by 3
x +3 = 3x/2
Cross multitply by 2
2x + 6 = 3x
put the x’s on one side
1x = 6
Therefore the length of the stick is 6”
Good Luck

1/2 (3/6) in sand
1/3 (2/6) in water
leaves 1/6 left
if 1/6 = 1 inch then length (6/6) = 6 * 1 inch
=> length = 6 inches
