Major is back with Section 9 in the ending of Solid State Society

I doubt it- the really good anime series (Like GiTs, Witch Hunter Robin, Cowboy Bebop) all run for a certain number of episodes, then are concluded.

I think the artists and writers don't want to do something past the point where they've really done everything they wanted to, have used up their ideas, and making another season would just disappoint the fans, because it wouldn't compare well to their earlier work. Even though SAC:2nd Gig had an excellent ending, it suffered from some of that already- there were some really slow episodes and some great ones.

I just don't see where they'd go from here, especially with the Tachikomas reset.

I read some times ago in a French anime magasine that there would be a third season of GIST SAC.

rummors is that Kusanagi won't be a part of section 9 anymore
she will be more like a freelancer or an advisor to the team
