My fiance and I have a few stuffed animals we want to put in our baby's crib when she's born but we're afraid that it might not be good for her to have them in there with her. Is it ok? they're just like a couple teddy bears.

I had some stuffed animals in my daughter's crib, but when I put her to bed I would just move the animals to the foot of the crib. They don't move too much as newborns so the chance of the stuffed animals causing any harm is not likely. Just don't put large ones in the crib and keep them far from your baby's face. Congrats on the baby and good luck!!!

My six-month-old daughter has had stuffed animals in her crib ever since she was three months old. They are small (there are about seven or eight of them) and I made sure I put them way at the other end of the bed, near the foot, so that they would be nowhere near her face. I sat them all together in the corner at the foot of the crib and they've never come in contact with her, even with all the thrashing around she does. lol I am a first-time mom and I was worried about all that too, about SIDS and smothering and such, but I relaxed when I realized I could use my own common sense. Don't put the stuffed animals at the head of the crib near where her head will be, and always make sure that the blanket or whatever you use is away from her nose and mouth. She is just now learning to turn over so we'll have to modify our safety measures soon but for now she's fine. She just lies on her back and there's no possible way she can smother from the stuffed animals, blanket, or anything else. Good luck!

P.S.--I would not, however, put any large stuffed animals in the crib; you know, the ones that are as big as the baby. lol Example: my husband's mother sent a giant Christmas bear in the mail; and that thing will NOT go in her crib, as there is too much of a risk of it falling over near her and possibly obstructing her nose and/or mouth. I only put small stuffed animals in the crib.

No, your not suppose to have anything. If the animal just so happens to fall over in the middle of the night, the baby has no movement that can move it off their face. This could cause the baby to not be able to breathe. Just do it when the baby is not in the crib.

My understanding is that nothing should be in the crib as a newborn. When my son was born, I did not put anything in his crib.

If you do I would make sure they are at her feet and Way far away from her if you notice that she is a big mover than I would re-consider. The best thing is nothing but a blanket. ( I had stuffed animals in my little girls bed) and nothing happened. If you do put some in there make sure they are not overly fluffy or big. It is up to you.

only have one teddy bear in there, thats not hairy or has any accesories on him so that your baby cannot choke on anything.
just a plain teddy bear for right now, watch and see how your baby does with one and then its up to you, you know whats best for you're child. If it feels wrong don't do it. Mothers intution is always best.

According to my daughters ped (and this made sense so I followed it) there shouldn't be ANYTHING in her crib with her until she has the ability to pull it off of herself in case it covers her face. That includes blankets but they sell "blanket sleepers" which are blanket sack thingys that your baby wears over their PJ's so they're warm but not in danger of smothering. It made sense to me hope it helps you too!

Yes it can be, especially if they have a lot of fur on them. this is so because these little ones like to put things in their mouth and tyhe fur can garm them. if you do avoid packing the crib with them.

while the right precautions are taken its super. i would be co-sound asleep while our new child gets right here, yet my husband and daughter isn't in mattress with us for the 1st various months, they are going to be sound asleep mutually in yet another mattress. I plan to in basic terms sleep with the sheets on the mattress and one pillow for me, he would be below the pillow (at breast point) so as that i don't would desire to get away from mattress to breastfeed him, just to alter his diaper. Co-sound asleep reduces the possibility of SIDS while finished correct. maximum mothers (quite in the event that they are being woken each 2 hours or with the intention to breastfeed) are very conscious of their toddler and in a position to envision on him right now at any element for the period of the nighttime. infants additionally will time their respiratory alongside with their mom's respiratory and alter into much less probably to randomly end for no reason. some detrimental aspects to look out for are: quite some pillows, thick blankets, a crack between the mattress and wall the place the toddler could get caught, or older siblings who could be much less attentive to the toddler. there have been no comments of a healthful mom, who substitute into not using alcohol or drugs (prescription, OTC, or unlawful) rolling over and squishing a toddler to death. there have been injuries nonetheless have been the mom and dad have been below the impact of alcohol, mom had taken sound asleep pills, etc...
