I'm 15. I've always been a tomboy. I'd like to start wearing some makeup. Not a whole lot, of course. I'm not sure how to tell my mom I want to start wearing makeup. She doesn't wear any, and I'm not sure if she ever has. We aren't that close either. I'd talk to my older sister and see if she would take me makeup shopping, but we aren't close at all. My other sister lives on the other side of the country, so I couldn't talk to her. I really need help to find things like concealer that match my skin tone. Any advice you give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm also 15, and at 13 started wearing some make-up, just some blush and eyeliner, really. My mom was fine with it, and I sort of took advantage of that and started wearing a little too much, and she wasn't happy about it. But I've gone back to wearing just some natural stuff, very light. I wear a little bit of eyeliner, with some mineral foundation that makes your skin look fresh, not unnatural, and just some blush. She's been fine with it, as long as its never too heavy. And like you, my mom really doesn't wear a lot of make-up either. I would say just tell her you'd like to start wearing a bit of make-up, some really light stuff. I agree with whoever said you should try MAC or something, someplace where they put a lot more natural looking make-up on you, and you can show your mom so she knows that its a good amount and all. Thats always really the main problems with moms, so I say you can do something like that to see what your mom thinks. Hope that helps! :)

I'm sorry that you and your mother are not close, that does make some things a little more uncomfortable. Find a time when you two are in a good mood, and ask. Also ask your sister to help you to apply your makeup. Start off with complimentary colors to your hair, eyes and skin tone. Don't go overboard, wear it light. You will also need to have a good skin care regime as well. I recommend Jafra products and the new teen line has done wonders for my oldest daughter. My daughter is also a "tomboy" and since I have let her start wearing makeup, she has started to "girlie-up".

When you both are shopping casually go by the makeup section, browse and then NICELY ask your mom to help you choose some. If she says no don't throw a fit. What I did was I wrote my mom a long well written email because she never listens to me when I talk to her. IT also prevents you from saying the wrong thing like "Everyone else has makeup" :D

My daughter is 13- I don't like alot of makeup but I do allow her to wear mascara- she started off with just the clear which worked well and maybe your mom might have little problems with that- and also- tinted lotion to even out her skin- you can even tell she has it on and it works. Also at dances and thibngs that are "dress-up- she wears just the soft eye colors or the little sparkle- its minimum and nice and like she says- doesn't make her look "loose" or like a clown. At your age you don't want to hassle with much anyway- then add a bit more as you go- and Mom gets used to it- From a Mom who's daughter is too pretty anyway- you never want to advertise in the wrong way- but a bit of punch! is never bad!

I have two suggestions.

1.) Buy the makeup on your own. Start wearing very light makeup around her. Once she notices explain that you thought you were old enough to start wearing makeup. Once she gets used to you wearing it lightly, start wearing it heavier. Once she gets used to that, start wearing it even heavier. Continue this cycle until your happy with your makeup.

2.) Think about it logically, your mom was your age once and probably wore makeup once. You can just sit down and talk to her about it. Say, "Mom, I'm fifteen now, and I think I'm old enough to start wearing makeup." You could even ask her if she has any tips or specific colors she likes. She'll be happy you were honest and came to her for help. Plus, she'll be glad that you value her opinion.

What i would do is, go to the mall with your friends and get some makeup- and just wear it, when your mom notices it, she can't say anything because your almost grown up! Thats is what i did, start wearing it around her, see, she might not even care, so good luck!!!!

heyy
i'm 12 years old and i wear make up.
(but only on the eyes)
i wear eyeliner with light brown eyeshadow and sometimes, mascara when i feel like applying it on.
at first, my mom didn't notice.
then when i "accidentally" dropped some hints, she noticed that at such a young age i started wearing make up.
i started wearing eyeliner when i was 11, and thats really young but at that age i was very anxious to brighten up my image.
anyway, you are 15 and 3 years older than me.
trust me, your mom will be PERFECTLY fine with it.
have a daughter to mom talk in a quiet and relaxed time and tell her about your anxiety and that you will start out with light make up
(i mean, come on. you have to start wearing make up SOMEDAY.) lol
:) hope that helps!!<3

Don't tell her. Just wear it, until she notices. Then, deny it. She might not notice. Another thing you could do is bring the makeup to school and apply it in the bathroom. Then, before you go home, clean it off.

Just ask her advice on going shopping with you to pick some out and i'm sure she will be up for it and help you make the right decision.
