I think something might be configured wrong but i have no clue as to what. No viruses or spyware were detected...
My pages are loading too slow, if at all
my connection is dial up(connects between 48.0 and 50.2) and it says 470,729 bytes sent, and 3,248,771 bytes received ( I think this is where the problem lies but i don't know what is causing it or how to correct it)
Thank you for your time :-)

It's a trojan running undetected in the background. Nothing will get rid of it except formating your harddrive and reinstalling windows. Don't attempt this without someone knowledgeable present or at least buy a book on it.

There are a few other possible problems. You could have a bad driver on your modem. Mine worked for awhile and then things would get slower and slower. I simply removed and re-installed the driver. It's a pain in the neck, but it worked. Another possible problem is that your network is swamped. If too many people are trying to get on-line or download huge files, then your speed will go down. A last possible issue is with your memory. You can have memory problems that don't show up without good diagnostic tools. I have had that also. The only fix is new memory. If you are going to get new memory, then go ahead and get as much as you can. The downside is that you can probably get a new machine for about the same cost as new memory or more of it.
First check your driver. It's not that hard to remove, re-boot, and re-install.

You're on a dialup connection. Dialups are slow by nature. Not a lot you can do about that except get a broadband account. The high download count may be your system trying to download updates from Microsoft as well as your antivirus software. Again, nothing you can do about that except get a faster connection.
If you're getting dialup connections in the 48k - 50k region you should be able to get DSL and crank up your speed 50 - 100 fold.

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html
The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

Two things:
1) Get DSL or Cable.
2) Go to IE and go to TOOLS --> OPTIONS-->Connections Tab. There is a button called LAN Settings, UNcheck the "Automatically detect settings" (unless something you are using requires it).

Download this link below. You should download ccleaner to check and see if you got errors on your computer. After you are done downloading open ccleaner on your computer and then a window will pop up. Click on issue then click scan. You will see lists of problems. After that click on fix issues. Your computer should be running ok.
