The source of power comes off the transformer, look again for the proper connections. The red wire coming from the secondary side is the 24 volt lead, and the common is the return.

If all power connections show good, you have a bad display. Thermostats are around 24 dollars more or less. It might be much easier to replace it than to try to fix a problem that is that difficult to track down. Also the problem could be with getting information to a good display. You can't fix the display or the circuit which sends information to the display. If all power connections are good, just replace the thermostat; don't worry about what went wrong unless it happens again.

RE:
I have a blank display on my thermostat...?
And this thermostat has no battery capacity, so batteries are not the problem. What could be the problem. We can't get into the thermostat to check for fuse.

if stat does not have capacity then stat is powered by furnace if the unit does turn on " click" when you call for heat then unit is working just display is bad usually this is because of battery. you will need to replace stat. get one with battery backup.
