It is really a child thing that their innocense doesn't see all the mayhem around these times, or is it an evil commercial plot only?

Now you know I love big evil commercial plots and mayhem, boy, but I do love me some mayhem, but I don't think that age should be a factor in your enjoyment of the holidays. Granted the crass commercialization of the holidays is a bore and can be off putting simply because it all seems to lose its meaning underneath the onslaught of the ads, sales and those horrible little dudes in the uniforms who stand outside grocery stores ringing that damn bell! Will no one silence these bells once and for all?!!!

Oh...uhm, sorry...where was I? Oh man, I lost my train of thought...perhaps Santa will bring me another one for Christmas...must dash off and write him a quick note.

But before I do...If you would like a couple of teenagers to spend the holidays with you...I can arrange that...their lazy as all get out...but I have a feeling you could whip them into shape.

The older one gets the more responsibility you have to create the party and the good times for people...the more work it is.

The younger you are, the more the likelihood that all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the party others have so painstakingly prepared for you.

Holidays are a lot of WORK! Yes is is a commercial ploy to get the older people with money to buy more and more and thus feel more and more stressed.

Did you know that suicide incidents spike during the holidays? The happiness of the holiday season is a commercialized facade. Statistics show most people are not happy but big business will not let people quit buying. What a trap!

Who says that holidays are only for children, that's a bunch of bull.Holidays are for everybody.
I enjoy them less because I suppose of the memories I have about holidays.
They were different when we were kids.As expected.Times change.
Kids grow up,leave the house and leave an emptiness, that can not be filled by holidays.
Lets face it , Christmas is not as nice when you sit alone in your livingroom staring at a tree that nobody else can admire.
Buying presents to send to whomever gets them is not the same as having them under the tree....I could go on , but you get my drift.
I am not a great fan of holidays, but I do have nieces and nephews come over, ranging in age of 12-23.
They don't like what they get,to bad...so sad.
Merry Christmas

I will be 60 in a couple weeks. I enjoy watching all you fools rush around, grabbing andfighting for the 'deals' before Christmas.

I buy on the sales days AFTER Christmas! I do not gift anyone over the age of 18. I do not accept gifts.

I give freely of my excellent cooking, great pastries, fine cookies, to everyone, and I share my knowledge and wisdom.

I buy from salvage dealers, used dealers, web-vendors, and private parties.

I pay less than ten cents on the dollar for most stuff, compared to inflated pre-Christmas prices! We give gifts on New Years!!!

I am enjoying the holidays more for their sharing of time with family, and less with the 'keeping up with the Jones's'...

I think it's more that your life changes as you get older. People you used to enjoy spending the holidays with move away or die & new relationships just don't seem as deep. Holidays are better with children around & if there are no more children in the family some of the magic (innocence) is gone. I know I don't look forward to them anymore.

Because holidays are mainly for children, and the adults are responsible for making them happen which is a lot of work. Don't let all the responsibilities turn you off, they are still a Happy time, if only for the children.

cause usually you are the one spending the most money and then kids now want the best and some wont settle for for less you may feel like you owe them the best cause you always want more for your kids than you had . Or maybe the loss of close loved ones makes it sad like i lost my grandma and she loved christmas so much i try and always put a decorated tree on her grave every year so she has one
