Well just becuase you like to live alone dosent mean you like a small house. You can have your room, a game room, and a guest room. Showing off a house with one room isnt that impresive.

Hope. People don't really want to live alone. We all hope to upgrade the quality of our lives.

And becides, once the land and roof and kitchen is constructed and paid for, it costs very little to add another couple of bedrooms, thus increasing the selling price of the house as compared with a 1-bedroom house, which nobody would build for sale.

And even the loner wants a home theater or office or some place to keep the toys.

The majority of the large new homes are built by couples raising their families. However, when children are raised, spouses have died and divorce has left so many alone, there is a growing number who chose not to remarry but to live alone. I have been widowed for eight years and I have chosen to live in an apartment complex even though I had options. I don't need a lot of space as much as I need the peacefulness and independence at this time in my life. For so many years I was someone's child, wife, mother, teacher, caregiver, and grandmother and while each role was chosen and treasured, I now enjoy the aloneness that allows me to pursue those post-retirement activities that suit my life. I see my children and grandchildren every day; I have many friends with whom I spend some time; but when I close my door I feel such a sense of peace and satisfaction by living alone with my pets.

Loners need 1 extra bedroom for the dogs and the other for the cats. Plus, 3 bedroom dwellings appreciate more and are easier to sell. Makes for a great investment.

You can go where you want when you want and do what you want without anyone making you do what they want.
Houses with 3 bedrooms do not have to be used as bedrooms. One can be a guest room and the other a hobby or computer room and of course a bedroom.

They extra rooms are so they can rent them out for when the novelty of living alone wears off.
