I think the reason ND keeps the "patsies" on their schedule is to be assured of at least a 9-3 record every year. ND and their fans beat their chests and say we only have been beaten by USC, UM, & OSU, but don't talk much about the "big" victories of ND and the mighty Quinn.

Despite losing handily to USC last night, the Irish are still a quality team with quality players at many key positions. Rankings are subjective. Where a team starts out in the pre-season poll, based on returning players at key positions, success of previous years, recruiting class and strength of schedule, has a great deal to do with where a team might finish in the polls at the end of year. Early wins over Georgia Tech, unranked at the time, now ranked in the top 20, along with a win over Penn St. ranked 19th when they played kept the Irish ranked high despite the loss to a very good Michigan. The rest of the Irish schedule appears easy, but there are no easy games in major college football. The real question is, are you a over rated team at 10-2 having lost only to the #2 ranked Michigan Wolverines and the #3 ranked USC Trojans?

Notre Dame will always be the most overrated due to the sports media. The media has loved the Irish for probably 70 years.

No way. Look at the past two years. They lost to #3USC and #2Michigan this year. Fiesta Bowl last year they lost to #1 Ohio State and #3USC again earlier last season by the Bush push. and lost to Michigan State before that in OT. Not bad losing last 4 games to the top 3 teams.

They are completely overrated. First Michigan routed them at home, then USC pounded them.
