My husband and I play secret Santa each year for someone we know and buy them a gift without ever telling them it was from us. This year we'd like to get something for my aunt and my uncle, who suffers from a degenerative muscular disease. He's not able to leave the house much and is pretty much bound to a wheelchair. My aunt is still quite active and has actually started her own business making jewelry.

They are both in their late 50s. Do you have any ideas for a gift I could either drop off or have delivered anonymously that would bring them some Christmas cheer and let them know someone cares? Nothing too pricey, but something thoughtful or useful.

Remember, we don't want them to know it's from us.

Thanks!

I'm all for gift baskets. You could make them a Christmas gift basket with a couple of older, classic holiday movies in it (It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street), along with some snacks like cookies and caramel popcorn. Toss in some hot chocolate mix, and they have a date night in, with some movies that will give them a little warm fuzzy feeling.

I also want to say hurray to you for doing this anonymously. It takes a good heart to do a good deed unrecognized. I hope someone does something fantastic for you this year!

A gift basket definitely. Do not limit it to one or two theme items. So many stores offer a prefixed basket but limit the theme to either fruits or candies or cologne. Make your own, it's not only cheaper but makes it more personalized. Do not give them DVD's or VCR movies if they do not watch movies, nor CD's if your not sure of the music they prefer. Same as it's not practical to give candy to a diabetic, nor fruit if it causes problems for them, instead, think on the lines of useful items such as slippers for the uncles feet if he doesn't move around a lot, or a lap blanket, a cushion for your aunt if she sits a lot while making her jewelry, throw in a couple of canned goods or toiletry items and surround it in plastic wrap especially for the holidays. As a personal touch you do not have to use a basket, any container that would be useful around the home for one or both of them could be used, keep in mind their needs, if most of his meals are served on a tray that would make a great container to use, with her jewelry making a plastic container with lid may be useful

I would suggest a gift card to whatever type of store they like. Then you can't go wrong lol.
