install the drivers first, then shutdown, connect the keyboard and reboot. If its wireless you may need to change the channel its on as it could be interfering with other devices.

Take it all out and try again. Make sure there are batteries in the usb device which runs the keyboard(and mouse?) and that you have chosen the right keyboard from the list to install. The info is on the underside of the keyboard. Press the button on the plug in usb device to synchronise the keyboard.

You will have to go to Microsoft and download the latest drivers for it. IntelliType Pro 5.5 is the latest version. Unplug it all install the driver and then plug it back together, this should find it this time. Do NOT use the P/S 2 connection, only use the USB on its own.

Today I had a message from my PC saying that I have a piece of hardware that has not been recognised. I added nothing and have not done so for 2 years. Seems like a similar problem.
Thought this might help reassure you.
