I was just searching for some instructional makeup hints myself !
I'm sending my 13 year old niece a makeup kit for her birthday & wanted to send some tips along with it.
I found exactly what i was looking for at:

scroll down to "learn" then "tips & tricks"
Hope this is as helpful to you as it was to me!

Start with a light, compressed face powder that is as close to your skin tone as possible. I suggest CoverGirl, their powder covers any skin discolorations. You may want to try eyeliner. You'll want a solid eyeliner, most makeup brands carry them. Apply a dark brown eyeliner along the line your eyelashes sit on, on your top eyelid. Then, curl your lashes with an eyelash curler. Hold the curler in place for at least ten seconds. Then, use CoverGirl's Lash Exact black mascara. The mascara will hold the curl of your eyelashes in place.
You color eyeshadow depends on both your skintone and eye color. Plus, there are lots of different colors so the choice is mostly up to you. However, you should try and stay away from lots of dark, heavy colors. Especially in the day, you should use light colors with a little bit of a shimmer. Your lip color will also vary. If you prefer lipstick, put a little bit of gloss over it. Or, you can just use lipgloss alone. Either way, you want your lips to look very glossy, and even shine a little bit.
Here a few more random tips about makeup:
If you want your eyes to look bigger, use a white eyeliner. An easy way to remover makeup is lotion. If you want your makeup to stay on longer, wash your face right before applying. Always wash all your makeup off before going to bed, or your eyes may become itchy in the morning!
I hope I helped you! Good luck, and if you have the time, answer some of my questions!

Go to a makeup counter like bobbi brown they help choose the right shades for you and help you how to learn applying makeup. ! tip i have though is dont spend loads on lipcolors eye makeup etc only on foundation that suits you. It also depends on the brushes aswell. so dont spend loads on a lipgloss when you can get 1 for £2

well, you maybe select a brand of makeup that u think would work good and go with that. Almay has makeup goes with what color your eyes are. Like, if your eye color is blue, they have eyeshadows, eyeliners, mascara and i think more that go great with your eyes.
