Laser levels are extremely easy to use, you just place things on the line, but the accuracy can vary. Cheap, low quality ones can be off by as much as 1/8" over 10', the most expensive and highest quality ones might only be off by 1/8" over 50-100'. If this is accurate enough for your needs, by all means, use one, but by far the most accurate leveling device is a tube level, all it is is a clear tube, filled with water, with open ends. since water seeks its own level, a tube level is 100% accurate over what ever distance you need to measure, the water level between the two ends will always be exactly the same distance from the center of the earth. The one caveat is this, if you have bubbles in the line, it will throw the measurements off.
