Yes, practice, practice practice and watch, watch, watch. Many people will put on the brake when it is not necessary and they will become a hazard on the road. Drive your normal speed. Only accelerate to stay with the flow of traffic. You will be able to slip into the flow of traffic easier than your fear has allowed you to imagine.

I get that way too...I only drive them when they are not busy...and you can find backways to take too...But if you want to get over it,I would just go with an adult or someone on a day without much traffid.Build from there I've been driving for about 21/2 years ...Highways scare the S*** out of me too. I'm not a nervous driver, just not overly fond of the highways.

Use common sense - look for a safe opening in traffic, use your signal... observe traffic around you. The more nervous you get - the worse off you may be. Take your time - deep breath. But evaluate your skills... are you too anxious to drive?
