I allways disagree with people that think that way?
I feel that we have choices, and we have the gift to
dictate and make our own decisions some are good
and some are sad! I think that people just say things like that because they don't want to face the truth.

Your statement answers your question. Karma.cause & effect, your own actions in thought, word, and deeds determine you life circumstances, also your destiny. Read the little book; "As a man thinketh" by James Allen.

Greetings!

Substitute things that are meant to be as things that "are".
Your choices can only come about after you realize the "are".
In that instance you are in control of your own destiny. Do some people make bad choices? Of course.
What makes them think in terms of pre-ordained destiny ? Simple they make the bad choice when the "are" is present.
When people argue that things were meant to be, it does have merit, but only in terms of when it becomes the "are".

For example, take Nostradamus. Soothsayer? Hardly. He scores no better than H.G. Wells in predicting a trip to the moon before rocket ships.
Something that is logically possible is no more than something imaginable.
So, to say there will be a Black President in the US?, To say that cars will someday fly?
You see what I mean? Events are bound to happen because our being is spatial-temporal.
So in that respect they are meant to be up to when they become the "are"

Good Luck

I 100% completely agree with you that things aren't destined or meant to be. How would we ever know things were meant to be? Who makes our destiny? Who is to say something is destiny?
Whatever we decide is what we get. Some things do happen on accident, but that is our own faults, not because is was set up that way, or destined to happen.

Predestination does not exist.

The knowledge that something will happen is not what causes it to happen. It is only superior knowledge.

For example. If someone crosses a busy street without looking for coming vehicles he will be run over by a car. This is my knowledge. But this knowledge is not what causes the accident.

I think we make our own luck.

We can do things everyday to increase the potential outcomes that we want.
